Ryan Reynolds tweets photo with Will Ferrell from the set of Spirited

It may be July but it's feeling like December in Ryan Reynolds' world.

On Tuesday, the Canadian actor tweeted a photo of himself posing head to head with Will Ferrell as he revealed filming has begun on the pair's new musical movie based on the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol.

The project, that was first announced a couple of years ago, is titled Spirited.

Reynolds is reported to be starring in the lead role of an Ebenezer Scrooge-type character who is visited by three Ghosts on Christmas Eve.

Ferrell, who cemented his festive credentials in the big screen comedy Elf, is playing the Ghost Of Christmas Present.

Other cast have yet to be confirmed.

The film reunites Ferrell with his Daddy Home writers and directors Sean Anders and John Morris, who are directing Spirited from their own screenplay.

Sharing the on set pic, Reynolds couldn't resist joking about how the musical movie is being produced for Apple TV+.  

'He tweeted: 'Day 1 shooting with one of my comedy idols, Will Ferrell. You'd barely notice this was an @Apple movie! Also iOS 14.6 will begin installing in 7 seconds…'

Reynolds will next be seen in the highly-anticipated Free Guy, arriving in theaters August 13.

He also recently completed filming on The Adam Project, starring alongside Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo.

He's also wrapped production on Netflix movie Red Notice with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Gal Gadot which is expected to premiere on the streaming service towards the end of this year.
