Several Chromebooks are once again expected to go on sale this Amazon Prime Day 2020, which is now just around the bend after a lengthy setback due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Chromebook deals might be a bit tougher to find this year than on Prime Days past.

As CNN reports, there's been a shortage of laptops available in late 2020 due to manufacturing delays and a sharp increase in demand as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. So, everyone – namely, us – will have to be that much more focused on uncovering the best Chromebook deals for Amazon Prime Day 2020.

Regardless, we expect to see Chromebook deals from all major manufacturers, including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, to name a few. Prepare with us by going over the following deals from last year's Prime Day, many of which are highly likely to be discounted again.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2020?

Amazon Prime Day 2020 begins Tuesday, October 13 and runs through Wednesday, October 14. We'll be on the lookout for Chromebook deals that become available on both days of the event, so return often for the Chromebook sales you're seeking.

Everyone who plans on making use of the deals does need an Amazon Prime subscription. A Prime membership can be had for $13 a month or $120 each year. Amazon Prime members have lots of perks available to them, most importantly the free two-day shipping on many products, access to Amazon's Prime video streaming service, and much more.

If you haven't yet subscribed to the service, you can take it for a spin with a free 30-day trial. After all, Prime Day deals are only available for those with an Amazon Prime subscription or free trial.

How to shop for a Chromebook

There are many things to consider when buying a new Chromebook, as there are increasingly specialized models released every year to fit users' needs. First, decide what you need from the Chromebook, whether that be web browsing, word processing, digital design, or casual Android gaming on a bigger screen.

Second, determine your price point, as that ultimately dictates what you're able to afford. While Chromebooks are generally affordable laptops, some companies have produced luxury-grade models as well as other specialized types.

Finally, think of any must-have features you want. Should your Chromebook have more local storage, a larger or sharper screen, or the most comfortable keyboard available? Decide which features are essential, and that will help narrow your list of potential Chromebook.

Protip: Make sure to double-check the laptop maker's suggested price with the deal price — pay close attention to the hardware specifications — and also affirm your choices with editorial reviews rather than user reviews on Amazon or other retailers. They're often cooked by the retailer or manufacturer to drive sales.
