For those who typically write C++, what language(s) have you been using instead for projects which you otherwise would have been using C++, and why? If you’re intentionally using it over any specific alternatives, what is making you stay with it? C++ looks to continue its downward trend and drop to #5 in the Tiobe Index. I’m off on my own as a remote worker in a non-tech-hub writing C++ professionally, so I’m trying to understand this trend. The intent is not to create a “bash C++” train, I’m just trying to learn what other people are doing. Example (me): I’ve been using plain C for graphics demos to simplify design choices and more easily understand the translation and effects of generated assembly (such as cache).
