Using double-tap to skip songs on your left or right Airpod may be the default setting, but if it's not, you can set this action through your iPhone or iPad's settings. Only those with Gen 1 AirPods or Gen 2 AirPods can modify skipping songs through the double-tap feature as AirPods Pro do not allow you to adjust this. You can also turn off double-tap skipping of songs on your AirPods through your iOS device's settings. Visit Business Insider's Tech Reference library for more stories. Your playlist isn't always going to deliver the song you want to hear right now, so when listening to music through your AirPods, Apple gives you a simple way to skip songs.
