NASA just released a photo of the sun that looks like the face of a fiery Halloween pumpkin
Just in time for Halloween, NASA has released a photo of the sun that looks like the fact of a giant, fiery pumpkin. The ultraviolet image was taken in October 2014, but released on NASA's Facebook and Twitter pages on Sunday. The photo was taken by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory, which constantly watches the sun from its orbit in space. The more active regions of the sun appear brighter because they emit more light and energy, according to NASA. "This image blends together two sets of wavelengths at 171 and 193 angstroms, typically colorized in gold and yellow, to create a particularly Halloween-like appearance," the agency said.
